About Wikimedia Nederland The Vereniging Wikimedia Nederland has as goal to collect, record and distribute all free accessible information.* We work closely together with the volunteers of the Wikimedia Projects and the Wikimedia Foundation, with them we also undertake and organize activities. About the Wikimedia Foundation The Wikimedia Foundation is a non-profit organization registered in the USA, hosting websites known as the "Wikimedia projects", including Wikipedia and Wikinews, as well as Meta-Wiki. The Wikimedia Foundation is governed by Board of Trustees. Since January 2007, the Wikimedia Foundation has its office in San Francisco. Its former headquarters in St. Petersburg, Florida was closed on January 31, 2007. Official information about the Foundation may be found at the Foundation website: wikimediafoundation.org. The Association Wikimedia Nederland was acknowledged as an official chapter of the Wikimedia Foundation by the Wikimedia Foundation with a resolution on Sunday the 24th of September 2006. About the projects Due to the servers and the network of the Wikimedia Foundation thousands of people are able to work on the wikis ('projects') of the Foundation: Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia, WikiWoordenboek, Wikiquote, Wikibooks, Wikiversity Wikinews, Wikisource, Wikispecies and Wikimedia Commons. The information on these websites is freely reachable for the public and can be freely editable and spread out by anyone. |
